Update: Jesse Gross Fight in Montreal Cancelled

UPDATE: June 14 – Jesse Gross’ fight scheduled for Friday June 17 in Montreal has been cancelled.

After a blown call stole Jesse Gross’ title hopes last month in a WRECK MMA title fight against highly ranked fighter Brad Cardinal, Wallaceburg’s Jesse Gross is getting back into the cage much sooner than expected. Gross will travel to Montreal this week to fight Friday evening against Stephane Lamarche.

Gross was originally called by Challenge MMA to fight 8-4 Ricky Goodall on short notice. After considering the offer, Gross decided to fight Goodall, who was hurt only days after Gross accepted the invitation. Challenge MMA then approached Gross to fight 7-10 Stephane Lamarche, a bout which he agreed to take, despite the possible negative implications.

After battling a top ranked fighter such as Brad Cardinal, fighting Lamarche is a step down the calibre ladder for Jesse Gross, which if Gross happens to lose, could adversly impact his rankings.

Gross agreed to fight in the wake of discovering Brad Cardinal would not be giving Gross the rematch he was originally promised following a referees error which cost Gross the fight in their WRECK title fight. WRECK agreed to give the two a rematch after admitting the fight was ended prematurely due to a referees error, but Cardinal has since backed out of the event, an outcome Gross says only delays his revenge on Cardinal,

“He’s really just prolonging us meeting again, at some point I’ll get my shot to fight him again, he can only run so far,” said Jesse Gross in an email to CKSN.

Gross’ controversial fight with Brad Cardinal will re-air Saturday on The Score at 1pm.
