Lancers Ousted From OFSAA Rugby, Win Friendly

After losing their first two games at the ‘AAA-AAAA’  OFSAA Rugby, the UCC Lancers were officially ousted from championship contention, however, the girls team did manage to win a friendly match over Huron Heights Secondary School 19-10.

In their friendly win, Christina Coop and Ashlea Wells scored tries, while Katrina Squazzin had two converts in the win.

Earlier in the tournament, UCC lost to Napanee 29-10. After remaining close in the first half and only trailing 10-5, Napanee put together a strong second half piling on 19 points. Chelsea Broad and Christina Coop had UCC’s tries in the game.

In their opening game of the OFSAA 2011 tournament, St. Peter’s defeated the Lancers 15-5. Natasha Wood scored the only try for the UCC Lancers in the low scoring loss.

UCC was the only Chatham-Kent rugby team to advance beyond SWOSSAA this season.
