Novice 1 Griffins Grab Silver in Niagara Tourney
The Wallaceburg 1 Griffins were ‘A’ finalists on the weekend at the Niagara on the Lake Thunderhawk tournament. The Griffins opened with an 8-7 win over Toronto followed by a 10-3 loss to Burlington.
The loss to Burlington was the first of the year for the Wallaceburg Griffins Novice 1 team. The young team bounced back immediately pulling off a huge win over St. Catharines 7-4 to advance to the finals against Burlington again. Wallaceburg had 7 different scorers against St. Catherines showing off the depth of their team.
In the final, the talented Burlington team, one of the best in the province, again topped the Griffins, this time by a score of 8-4.
Top performers on the weekend were Tanner Cole, who had 4-3-7 points, Tyler Davis 1-5-6, Hunter Santsche 3-3-6, Cole McKinnon 4-1-5, Riley Roe 4-0-4, Seth Ewing 2-1-3, Evan Dumais 2-0-2, Reece Dewagner 1-0-1, Riley Parker 1-0-1, Lucas Jacobs 0-1-1, and Brandon Ortibus 0-1-1. Malcolm Vandevenne and Aiden Lucyk who are both first year goalies had stellar weekends in net.
