Red Devils Fall To Six Nations, Eliminated From Playoffs
In a last ditch effort to save their season, the Wallaceburg Red Devils fell short losing 16-5 to the Six Nations Rebels, and exiting the playoffs after a 3-0 sweep.
After sticking with Six Nations in the opening period of game 3, a disastrous second period in which the Six Nations Rebels scored 9 unanswered goals sunk the game for Wallaceburg. Clint Lamarsh opened the scoring for the Wallaceburg Red Devils and finished the game with a solid 2 goal, 2 assist performance.
Leading scorer Jordan Durston also gave Wallaceburg an offensive boost, scoring twice and adding 3 assists, however, Six Nations’ firepower was too much. Fromer WMLA player Chris Attwood had 1 goal and 5 assists for Six Nations.
In the series, Six Nations outscored Wallaceburg 48-23, with two blowouts following a close 13-12 game one. In the regular season, Wallaceburg finished with a 9-11 record, making the playoffs for the first time since 2008. Jordan Durston finished the season as the team’s leading scorer totalling 42 goals and 34 assists for 76 points in 20 games. He was followed closely by Clint Lamarsh, who had 38 goals and 32 assists for 70 points in 20 games.
