Tartans Undefeated Season Ends One Win Too Soon, Lancers Win Kent
The perfect season was within reach for the Wallaceburg Tartans Junior football team, unfortunately for the Tartans, their perfect season ended one win too soon as Wallaceburg lost the Kent Championship game 27-23 to the UCC Lancers.
Anthony Cunha played the hero for the UCC Lancers scoring two 4th quarter in their comeback win. Wallaceburg lead 23-20 with under two minutes to go until Cunha scored to put his team up for good. Max Fantuz and Sam Tomen had the other Ursuline College touchdowns.
For the Tartans, the loss marked the third straight year the Tartans have lost in the championship game. Wallaceburg was perfect in the regular season, including an early May win over the Lancers 28-24.
Jonah Pataki scored two touchdowns for the Wallaceburg Tartans finishing the year with 22 touchdowns in only 7 games.
The win for the UCC Lancers marked their second straight Junior Football Kent Championship.
When reporting on sports finals wouldn’t it be customary and just plain common sense to use a photo of the winning team?
Hi John, We didn’t get a championship photo that day unfortunately. If you have a photo I’d be more than happy to publish it. Thanks. We do the best with the budget we have, which currently wouldn’t buy you and I a coffee at Tim Hortons.
CKSN is published for the sole purpose of promoting sports, athletes, and teams in our area, and from time to time (at least right now) we will miss photos, games etc, which I apologize for.
Feel free to submit anything you might have to submissions@cksn.ca.
