This past weekend two Chatham Team Redemption fighters traveled to Michigan to compete in the Michigan Combat League.

Tyler Kirk who was looking to showcase his striking skills was unable to do so because his opponent Kevin Crunk was a no show. Kirk trained hard for this fight and when asked how he felt about it he stated, “It just gives me two more months of training camp for the next one.”

Mitch Wilson, another Team Redemption fighter made his MMA debut. Wilson looked like a caged tiger as he entered the cage and had his opponent John Stupyra terrified from the start. Shortly after the bell, however, it was obvious that Stupyra was no match for Wilson. Wilson landed a solid inside leg kick followed by a straight right to the head of Stupyra which dropped him. Stupyra fell to the floor indicating that he had received a kick to the groin and as a result the fight was deemed a no contest because Stupyra could not continue. Needless to say Wilson was unable to showcase his skills the way he would have hoped and is very excited to get another shot.

Owner and coach of Redemption MMA Chris Kimmerly stated that if after they review the video of the fight and it is clear it was a legal kick he will be demanding to have the ruling changed to a win by TKO.

Team Redemption returns to the cage again July 23rd and August 20 in Michigan.
