Tyler Roeszler Signs Pro Hockey Contract in Sweden
After completing a successful four year NCAA hockey career with the Cornell Big Red, Chatham’s Tyler Roeszler will be taking his game to the professional level in Europe next season after signing with Vita Hasten (HC White Horse) in Sweden this week.
Roeszler improved his scoring output in each of his four seasons at Cornell. Last season, Roeszler scored 12 goals and 13 assists for 25 points in 32 games this season. Roeszler finished 3rd in Cornell scoring last season and capped his year off by scoring another 4 goals and 4 assists in the playoffs.
Prior to his time with the Cornell Big Red, Tyler Roeszler won a Western Junior B scoring title by tallying 113 points in only 48 games as a member of the Chatham Maroons.
Now, the 23-year-old Chatham native is headed overseas to Norrkoping, Sweden, to play in Sweden’s Division 1 league for HC White Horse (Vita Hasten). In 2002-2003, current Detroit Red Wings defenseman Jonathan Ericsson was a member of Vita Hasten. Last seasons squad also featured another Detroit Red Wings draft pick, and two other former NHL draft picks.
