Woodslee Orioles Hold Off Maple City Brewers
After starting their season on a huge winning streak, the Maple City Brewers have run into stiff competition in early June dropping a game to Port Lambton earlier this week, followed by a 6-4 loss to the Woodslee Orioles Wednesday night.
Second baseman Joel Smith went 3-4 at the plate in the loss with three singles, a stolen base, 1 run, 1 RBI, and advanced to first in his other at bat on a fielders choice.
Dave Smith, Joey Hewak, and Joe Wright were the other Maple City Brewers to cross home plate in the game. Matt Rylett was charged with the loss from the pitchers mound allowing 3 hits and 3 runs in 2 innings pitched.
The Maple City Brewers play 4 games in Chatham this weekend: Friday night at 7pm against Windsor, Saturday at 3:30 pm facing Leamington, Sunday at 1pm versus Forest, and Sunday at 3:30 against the Amherstburg Jr’s.
