Balkwill Named to PGCBL All-Star Game Starting Line Up
Chatham’s Larry Balkwill has been named to the starting line up of the Perfect Game College Baseball League’s West All-Star roster. The all-star game will take place Monday, July 18 at Elmira’s Dunn Field at 7:05 p.m.
The game marks the PGCBL’s first ever all-star game, and will put the East against the all-stars of the PGCBL West. There will also be a Home Run Derby at 6:00 p.m. Participants for the home run derby have yet to be announced.
“It’s great to be selected for the all-star game,” said Balkwill, “It’s going to be a lot of fun and I’m happy for my teammates that get to go with me. Hopefully I keep having a good year.”
Last month, Balkwill, who catches for the Watertown Wizards of the PGCBL, hit for the first cycle in league history, and was named the PGCBL player of the week at the start of July. Balkwill is currently hitting .300 with 3 homeruns 14 RBIs and 21 hits in 20 games played.
Balkwill was a Detroit Tigers draft pick in 2009, and will return to Siena College in the fall where he is a sophmore.
