In their final tune up before the National Championships, Chatham’s Bridget Carleton and her Team Ontario U-15 squad fell in double overtime of the final at the Northern Classic in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.

To open the tournament, Carleton powered Team Ontario to a 37-31 win over the Wisconsin Legends tallying 11 points, 3 rebounds and 1 steal in the game. Facing the Grand Rapids Storm in the second round robin game, Carleton scored 5 points and collected 3 rebounds as Team Ontario downed the Storm 33-20.

Their final round robin game saw Team Ontario suffer their first loss of the Northern Classic Basketball Tournament, 42-40 in double overtime to a tough MGBR team. Carleton had 6 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals in the game.

Heading into the elimination round, Team Ontario cruised through the semi-final with a 44-26 win, before again facing the Wisconsin Legends in the final. Although Ontario was able to win their round robin game against the Wisconsin team, the Legends got the better of Team Ontario in the final taking a heartbreaker 42-41 win.

Carleton, who is an underager on the Team Ontario U-15 roster, will head to Humber College this week for the team’s final training camp before flying to Winnipeg for the National Championships on the last day of July.
