Fantuz Scores Lone Touchdown in Cougars' Losing Effort
Despite the fact that a return to the field is not in the immediate future for big brother Andy Fantuz, it isn’t keeping Chatham’s Max Fantuz from putting up points on the football field. Saturday with the JV Chatham Cougars, it wasn’t enough however as Fantuz scored the lone touchdown in a 24-10 loss to the Forest City Thunderbirds.
Ben Bartlett had the other Chatham-Kent Cougars points completing the conversion on Fantuz’ touchdown and adding a field goal. Quarterback Cole Herman threw the ball to receivers Max Fantuz, D’wan Mailloux, Ben Bartlett and Tanner Emery who combined for a total of 130 receiving yards on the day. Tanner Emery added another 93 yards to the running game.
Zach Goetghebeur led the defence with 11 tackles, while Max Fantuz had 8 and a QB sack and Eric Demars had 6 tackles. Justin Markovich and John McCauley both had 5 tackles in the loss. Kameron Rylett-Ward and Carter Wood were able to collect quarterback sacks in the game.
The next game for the Chatham-Kent JV Cougars will be Sunday July 17th at the CK Athletic Complex. The 4:00 pm game is the second in the Chatham-Kent Cougars triple header Alumni Classic day.
