JV Chatham-Kent Cougars Can't Hold Off Hamilton in Second Half

After jumping out to a 22-7 lead after the first half, the JV Chatham-Kent Cougars came out flat in the second half of their game Sunday against the Hamilton Panthers, allowing the Panthers to steal the game 42-28.

Tanner Emery led the Cougars offensively as he rushed for 152 yds and brought it home for 2 touchdowns in the game. Emery also returned the ball twice on punt returns for 63 yards. Max Fantuz and Dakota Stewart both caught touchdown passes from quarterback Cole Herman and ran them in. Ben Bartlett and Kameron Rylett-Ward made 2 extra point conversions .

The Chatham-Kent Cougars defense was led by linebacker Kameron Rylett-Ward with 7 tackles. John McCauley picked off 2  passes for  interceptions, while Carter Wood and Anthony Cunha both had a fumble recovery each. Other highlights on the defensive side of the ball, included Thomas VanRay, Carter Claridge, and Max Fantuz who each finished the game with 4 to 5 tackles and numerous assists. Zach Goetghebeur had quarterback sack and a fumble recovery in the loss.

Next week the JV Chatham-Kent Cougars team is on the road to face the London Thunderbirds at 12:30, Saturday July 9th.
