Kucera, Hartford Score in U-12 Strikers Win

Chatham StrikersThe U-12 Chatham Strikers were on the road again on Thursday night in Dorchester picking up a 2-1 win as they looked to keep their hold on 1st place with their 2nd road victory of the week.

Chatham came out a little sluggish early on and not much offensive firepower was demonstrated by either team. The defensive struggle continued until the half time with the score tied at zero.

Chatham was determined to create some offense early on, so they picked up their pace and pushed up the field. After being told to throw everything they could at the Dorchester net, 8 minutes into the half,  Allyson Huckle fired in a cross from the wing from a good 30 yards out. Logan Kucera was on the receiving end and plucked the ball out of the air with a lovely one touch volley to give Chatham a 1 – 0 lead. The goal was Kucera’s 6th of the year, good for a share of the league lead.

With the game winding down, and Chatham enjoying the majority of the play, their hard work was rewarded again when Paulina Maslak fought for the ball in the Dorchester box, created a turnover, won the ball, and fed a pass to Chelsea Hartford who calmly placed a low shot away from the Dorchester goalie to give Chatham a 2 – 0 lead. However a small breakdown only minutes later lead to a Dorchester goal, ruining Kaylee Boulley’s bid for her league leading 4th shut out. Chatham ran out the remaining game time in the Dorchester end to cement their 2 – 1 road win and set up a key match-up in two weeks against the 2nd place Southend Blue Devils.
