Kyle Wicks Wins Euro Junior Golf Cup With Team Canada
Chatham golfer Kyle Wicks played a big part in Team Canada’s win at the Euro Junior Golf Cup in Fife, Scotland this past week. Wicks was perfect in match play against golfers from the United States and Scotland in the tournament.
In the final round, Canada finished 7 points ahead of the United States, and 8 up of Scotland in the three nation event. Wicks closed the final round out as he had in his previous two days of match play going undefeaded. On Friday, Wicks beat James Anderson of Scotland 6 and 5, and Will Betts of the United States 2 and 1.
In a Canadian Junior Golf Association Press Release, Sean Casey, the non playing team captain for Canada had this to say,
“Our team played great and had a lot of fun out there today. There were some tight matches out there with a few of our players losing matches despite shooting under par. Fortunately we picked up enough points to win the competition which capped off an unforgettable week here in Scotland.”
