Larry Balkwill Named PGCBL Player of the Week

Larry Balkwill had a big week in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League. In fact, Balkwill was named the PGCBL Player for the Week helping his Watertown Wizards to a 5-2 record while starring at the plate.

In the seven games Watertown played during week 3 of the Perfect Game summer season, Balkwill went 14 for 25 at the plate, an incredible .560 batting average. That average included becoming the first player in PGCBL history to hit for the cycle. June 30, Balkwill, a Ursuline College graduate, went 5 for 6 hitting 2 singles, a double, triple, and home run for the cycle.

Balkwill’s week also including 2 home runs and 9 RBI’s. The Watertown Wizards backcatcher also went error free in 34 defensive chances.

Balkwill, a Chatham native, was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in 2009 and plays college baseball for the Siena State Saints, and is playing in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League in the offseason. This season, Balkwill is batting  a solid .378 with the Watertown Wizards who sit tied for 5th in the 8 team PGCBL.
