Major Peewee Diamonds Steal One Against Riverside

The Chatham Major Peewee Diamonds took it to Riverside July 3 winning an offensive show 15-11. Josh Hachey went 4 for 4 with 2 singles, a double, and a triple driving in 4 runs in the game. 

Nick Van Der Paelt chipped in batting 3 for 3 including a single and 2 doubles, as well a s3 RBIs. Zack Kelly 2 doubles and Brendan Richardson a single and a triple.  Other hits went to Michael Lindsay, Riley Vandenborn, Nick Butler, and Craig Denys. Game 1 Starting Pitcher Josh Hachey struck out 7 and gave up 3 hits.  Relievers Craig Denys and Brendan Richardson closed it out.

In the second game of their double header against Riverside however, the road team Riverside came back to win 9-5 splitting the afternoon series. Zack Kelly and Dakota Butt led the attack for the Chatham Diamonds with a single and a double each. Nick Butler had 2 singles, while Lindsay, Van Der Paelt, Hachey, and Steven Nydam each collecting a hit.  Butt and Kelly combined to scatter 10 hits and fan 4 in the loss.

On July 2, the Minor Peewee Chatham Diamonds travelled south to take on a tough Harrow team. Although Chatham got out to an early lead, Harrow quickly stormed back scoring 8 runs in the second inning en route to a 16-5 win.

Mitchell DeJong and Jordan DeHaw led the charge for the Chatham Diamonds. DeJong had 2 singles and a double, while DeHaw hit a single and a triple in the loss.

In a July 4th match up against Wyoming A, the young Chatham Diamonds Minor Peewee team didn’t fare much better losing 13-2.  Defensive highlights in the game came as Justin Doran pitched the first 3 innings and fanned 4 batters, while Mitchell DeJong tagged out 2 runners at 3rd and pitched the final inning striking out 2 batters.
