• Chatham golfer and Links of Kent member Kyle Wicks, 18, was Canada’s hottest golfer at the Euro Junior Golf Cup in Fife, Scotland this week. Wicks was perfect in the week defeating each of his opponents from Scotland and the USA in the three nations tournament. • Wallaceburg Minor Lacrosse goaltender Emily VanDamme starred for Team Ontario and helped her squad win a National Championship defeating British Columbia in the final. • Wallaceburg’s Shaun Suisham and Chatham’s Andy Fantuz were back in the spotlight after the NFL Lockout came to an end. Suisham started the news rumours rolling early in the week reportedly signing a multi-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers although details were unable to be finalized until Friday. • Setting themselves up for the Provincial Lacrosse Championships this long weekend, in which the Wallaceburg Novice 1 Griffins will compete in the ‘A’ division, a first for any Wallaceburg team in over 20 years, the Novice 1’s captured a Zone 7 championship defeating Windsor in the final.
