Wallaceburg Kraft Vote Done, Results To Be Announced at 6pm
All of Wallaceburg and Chatham-Kent is taking a well needed break after what turned out to be a 24-hour votathon ending today at noon for the Kraft Celebration Tour.
Wallaceburg was pitted against Trenton, Ontario for a chance to join the Kraft Celerbation Tour, which would give the winning town from today’s vote $25,000 and a live TSN SportsCentre broadcast from the town.
Last year’s Southern Ontario winner accumulated nearly 600,000 votes. The winner of today’s battle between Wallaceburg and Trenton will be announced tonight at 6pm on SportsCentre. Wallaceburg organizers held a rally Monday night in downtown Wallaceburg, followed by hosting a voting hub at the Wallaceburg UAW, where residents voted for 24 straight hours and were treated to complimentary pizza, Subway subs, and Tim Hortons coffee. As well, prizes were given out for each hour people stayed to vote.
The proposed community project for use of the $25,000, is to upgrade an old tennis court on the WDSS campus for use as a multi-purpose sports facility, including as an outdoor lacrosse surface.
Win or lose, the Wallaceburg committee would like to thank everyone who voted. Tune in to TSN SportsCentre tonight at 6pm to see if Wallaceburg won today’s vote.
