Havoc Junior Girls Finish Second at U-18 Provincials

After the Kent Havoc men won their first ever Niagara Rugby Union championship this weekend, the Kent Havoc women continued the club’s success by finishing second at the U-18 Ontario Championships.

The second place finish is seen as a huge success considering the Junior Girls program is only in its second season. Prior to the Ontario Championships, the Kent Havoc girls finished their regular season 5-1-1.

Played in Markham, Ontario, the Ontario Championships featured tough competition for the Havoc. Due to numbers, the Kent Havoc girls, who are made up primarlily of 15-year-olds, played the older, more experienced Under 18 competition.

In the Havoc’s semi-final game against the Barrhaven Scottish, the Havoc came away with a convincing 29-0 win.

The Kent Havoc then advanced to play Highland in the final, a team they had previously defeated. Although the Havoc lost the game 12-0, coach Brian Hall said the match was, “A very exciting game to watch, with every breakdown heavily contested.”
