Havoc Men Win First League Title in Club History
For the first time in Club history, the Kent Havoc Men are league champions. The Havoc, who finished the regular season in first placed continued their domination into the playoffs defeating Burlington II this weekend to capture the Niagara Rugby Union title.
Less than 10 minutes into the game Brad Bettencourt started what would be an unstoppable streak for the Kent Havoc Men with the first try of the game as they went on to win 59-0. Heading into the game, Burlington was the second ranked team in the league behind only the Havoc.
Craig Arnel had two tries in the first half, while Tyler Gawley and Adam Girardin also had tries. Jared Foster kicked the lone conversion of the first half.
In the second half, the Havoc Men didn’t let up with additional tries coming from Gawley Arnel, Tim Waddick, Patrick O’Donnell, and Matt Waddick. Conversions were kicked by Arnel, Foster, and captain Mike Lindsay.
With the TekSavvy Kent Cup, and the success of the local Kent Havoc Rugby Football Club, it is clear rugby is one of Chatham-Kent’s fastest growing sports in popularity.
