Former Wallaceburg Lacrosse star Zach Herreweyers and his Clarington Green Gaels were eliminated from the OLA playoffs this past weekend, ending their bid to reach the Founders Cup. The team was knocked off by last year’s Founders Cup champions Halton Hills.

Herreweyers had an incredible series for the Green Gaels scoring 11 points in only 4 games as his Clarington Green Gaels were ousted 3-1 in the series. In total, Herreweyers tallied 37 points in 10 playoff games this season.

In the Green Gaels’ only win of the series, Herreweyers was a catalyst for his team scoring 3 goals and adding 2 assists in an 8-3 win for Clarington.

As a member of Wallaceburg Minor Lacrosse, Herreweyers won multiple provincial titles, and the young lacrosse player, who has committed to a full ride field lacrosse scholarship to Loyola University, says his time in Wallaceburg was a key to his lacrosse career,

“Wallaceburg has helped my career a ton. I was very lucky to be paired up with some great coaches that taught me how to play the game,” Herreweyers told CKSN in an earlier interview.

Halton Hills now advances to play Six Nations for the OLA Junior B title.
