Midget Chatham Diamonds Stay Alive in London League Playoff Baseball
The Chatham Midget travel team stayed alive in London league playoffs last night with a 4 -3 come from behind victory over Ilderton, in extra innings.
Zac Brewer walked to lead off the bottom of the 9th inning. Kirk Mckillop’s sacrifice bunt, got him to 2nd & then Brooks Shepley singled to right field to score the run giving Chatham the win.
Shepley doubled in the 1st inning and was brought home on Blayne Oliver’s single.
Ilderton scored 2 runs in the 2nd inning to take the lead and another in the 6th but Tyler Cogghe shut them down pretty well as he struck out 9 and walked 2 while allowing 4 hit’s. In the bottom of the 7th Dylan Webster and Alex Gardiner singled to start the rally and where brought home on a sac by Brooks Shepley and a single by Kirk McKillop.
With the game tied Shawn Delanghe came in to pitch for Cogghe and keep Ilderton at bay till his team forced across the winning run in the bottom of the 9th .
Shepley finished the game with a double & single and 2 RBI’s. Alex Gardiner, Zac Brewer and Blayne Oliver had 2 singles a piece, while Kirk McKillop and Dylan Webster had singles.
The playoffs are a double elimination format with Chatham already suffering a 2-0 loss to North London earlier in the week.
