Prom Dress Rugby Event in Chatham Saturday
One of Chatham-Kent’s most unique and fun sporting events will take place this Saturday in Chatham. The 4th Annual Prom Dress Rugby event, hosted by the Kent Havoc Rugby Football Club will get underway at 12 noon this Saturday at the Chatham-Kent Community Athletic Complex.
“It’s part of the rugby culture to do games for fun or friendlies. Playing in a league is one thing, but doing things for fun is part of the culture,” said Kent Havoc Girls Coach Brian Hall.
First started in the United States, Prom Dress rugby has quickly grown to be a tradition for many teams at year end. The girls season however, is still underway as the Kent Havoc Girls have multiple games to make up before September. Currently, three Kent Havoc girls players are competing with Team Ontario at the National Championships.
Following Saturday’s Prom Dress Rugby event, the Kent Havoc Men will compete in their semi-final against Hamilton.
