Wallaceburg's First Lacrosse Expo a Hit
With hundreds of youth from across Southwestern Ontario piling onto the back campus of Wallaceburg District Secondary School Saturday, Wallaceburg’s first Lacrosse Expo was considered a smashing hit.
The Expo, which was planned in conjunction with the Kraft Celebration Tour festivities, was designed by Wallaceburg Lacrosse members to showcase the game to those outside the organization, as well as to teach their own youth about Field Lacrosse, a division of Wallaceburg Lacrosse which will kick off this Fall.
On hand to teach the youth about Field Lacrosse were local lacrosse stars including Sean Pollock, Seth Griffith, Zach Herreweyers, Emily VanDamme, Chris Fox and Jordan Durston, among other volunteer coaches.
As well, the Expo gave visitors the opportunity to see the to be renovated tennis courts which will receive a makeover following Kraft’s $25,000 award to the community. The tennis courts were filled with excitement Saturday morning as members of the Toronto Rock, including long time star Colin Doyle, as well as TSN anchors Kate Beirness and Darren Dutchyshen.
Youth in attendance had an opportunity to play with, get autographs and learn from their professional lacrosse heroes, as well as experience field lacrosse for the first time.
