Chatham Maroons Ending Losing Streak, Grab First Win of the Season
After three straight losses to start their season, the Chatham Maroons found themselves in the win column for the first time this season defeating the Lambton Shores Predators 3-2.
In what was a sloppy and penalty filled game on both sides, the Maroons were able to capitalize on their chances. Rookie forwards Michael Verboom and Trevor Richardson each had a goal in the game, with Richardson picking up the game winner with less than 5 minutes left on the clock. The two forwards were linemates last season as members of the Chatham-Kent Cyclones Major Midget AAA team.
Troy Cox scored the other Chatham Maroons goal.
Connor MacKinnon was solid in net for the Maroons, and veterans Alex Morgan and Brett Berger were also standouts in the game for Chatham.
Chatham hosts St. Thomas, last season’s league champions, Sunday at 7pm at Memorial Arena, before facing Lambton Shores again on the road Saturday, September 24.
