CKSS Boys, UCC Girls Capture Kent Golf Team Titles
The CKSS Golden Hawks landed the overall low score Thursday at the Kent Golf Championships in Blenheim.
Teammates Brodie Weaver, Brett Fujii, Brodie Weaver, Nate Parent, and Andrew Reaume took home the Kent title after outshooting UCC, who finished second in the tournament at Blenheim Golf Club. UCC ‘s team was made up of Connor Parker, Ryan Zruna, Trevor Kennedy, and Paul Seward.
UCC however, did manage to take home the girls title, as Mackenzie Butzer, Laura Martin, and Ally McKinlay shot low rounds to win the KCSSAA championship.
Individually, Crawford McKinlay of Ridgetown won the overall crown with a round of 71, while John McGregor star Kyle Wicks, who represented Team Canada this summer, was two shots off the lead. Mitch Gagnier of Wallaceburg, Jesse Welch of Dresden, and Ridgetown’s Tanner Ellis rounded out the top five.
On the girls side, UCC’s McKenzie Butzer won the individual title with a round of 81, while Dresden’s Mallory Martin and Emma Kopinak of Tilbury were the next closest competitors. Butzer won the event by more than 30 strokes.
Qualifying athletes will now travel to Kingsville for SWOSSAA.
