Maple City Brewers Ready for OBA's in Listowel
The Maple City Brewers are headed to the OBA championships this weekend after a strong summer of baseball. The Brewers finished 19-3 in the Essex County Baseball League and 12-7 in the Western Counties league.
The Brewers will open their OBA hopes against Woodslee. The annual tournament is being hosted in Listowel.
During the regular season, the Maple City Brewers were led by batters Joey Hewak, Ryan Cattrysse, and Brandyn Broadbent, as well as strong pitching from aces Dave Carey, Matt Rylett, and Dave and Joel Smith.
The Maple City Brewers have battled with roster numbers all season, at times bringing back players including former pro David Corrente to play, and at one point needing to use 67-year-old manager Wayne Tulloch.
Although the Brewers will still be short staffed this weekend, they are looking at challenging for the Senior B title.
