Richardson, Blondeel Score Hat Tricks Lifting Maroons to Much Needed Win
The duo each scored one goal per period as the Maroons traded leads with the Nationals. Coming into this game, the Maroons sat with a dismal 1-4-1 record through their first 6 games, however, the win was enough to push them over the Sarnia Legionnaires in the GOJHL standings.
Rookie Eric Palazollo also had a strong game for the Chatham Maroons scoring 2 goals and adding 2 assists. Michael Verboom added the other Chatham goal, while veteran Sean Myers had 4 asssits.
Hunter Johnson made 41 saves in the win for the Maroons. Not suprisingly, Richarson was named the games first star, followed by Blondeel, who walked away with second star honours in the game.
Chatham will play last place Sarnia Thursday night on the road before returning home Sunday to face St. Marys.
Alex Morgan, who left the Maroons this week for the OHL, joined his new team, the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in Oshawa Sunday, however wasn’t in the lineup as the Greyounds defeated the Generals 3-2. Blenheim’s Kyle Hope had an assist for the Generals in the game.
