After playing together for multiple seasons with the Nashville Predators, Edmonton Oilers forward, and Chatham native Ryan Jones spoke out via Twitter Wednesday after hearing about the tragic death of his former teammate Wade Belak.

Jones, who played with Belak in Nashville from 2008 until 2010, posted this on his Twitter profile, “Don’t have words to describe how good of a guy/teammate Wade Belak was. So sad to hear the news today. Thoughts and prayers to his family!”

Belak marks the third death of NHL tough guys in only a few short months, which also included the deaths of Derek Boogaard, and recently, Rick Rypien.

Following Wade Belak’s death, his former team, the team which he competed as a teammate of Jones on, the Nashville Predators released this statement,

“The entire Nashville Predators organization and family is shocked and saddened by the sudden and untimely passing of Wade Belak. Wade was a beloved member of the organization, a terrific teammate and wonderful father and husband. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife Jennifer and children Andie and Alex. We offer our full support to them at this very difficult time.”
