This Week in CK Sports Ending September 24
It was another great week in Chatham-Kent Sports with high school football, golf and basketball getting underway, as well as a local ICAD MMA competition and junior hockey. As well, there was yet again, more news on Chatham’s Andy Fantuz. Here is a look at This Week in CK Sports:
- The OHL season kicked off with Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith and Thamesville’s Dane Fox both starting with multi-point games. Read more about Seth Griffith and Dane Fox’ first game this season with the London Knights here…
- Andy Fantuz, who was injured last week, spoke about his injury in a video blog to fans this week. Fantuz will not play in Saturday’s game against the BC Lions. Watch Andy Fantuz video discussing his injury here…
- Two lesser hyped high school sports made big waves this week as the Kent Golf Championships took place in Blenheim, and local cross country runners travelled to Windsor to kick off their season. - High school football came back with a bang. The Chatham-Kent Secondary School Golden Hawks showed they are true league contenders, picking up their second win of the season, this time against the Blenheim Bobcats. Read more about this week’s KCSSAA high school football here…
- Gracie Barra Chatham/ Armstrong Submission hosted a successful ICAD competition in Chatham. The event featured several of Chatham-Kent’s up and coming MMA and Jiu Jitsu fighters. Read more and see video from the ICAD event in Chatham here…
- The Blenheim Blades crushed the Wallaceburg Lakers 7-0 in their home opener. The game marked a re-alignment of power in the Great Lakes Junior C Hockey League.
