TJ Brodie Cut by the Calgary Flames

TJ Brodie - Abbotsford Heat

Although many assumed this would be the season TJ Brodie cracked the Calgary Flames lineup once and for all, the young defenceman was assigned to the AHL’s Abbotsford Heat, the same team Brodie spent his entire season playing for last season.

Last year, Brodie made the Calgary Flames out of training camp and played 3 games in the NHL before being re-assigned to Abbotsford. This year however, Brodie, who was an AHL all-star, was returned to the American Hockey League.

After the move, in which the Calgary Flames demoted 2 players back to their junior teams, and 12 to Abbotsford, the Flames were left with 9 defenseman, meaning Brodie has slipped down the Flames’ depth chart.

In Abbotsford last season, Brodie scored 5 goals and 29 assists in 68 games.
