Vanderveeken Playing in Italy's Top Pro Hockey League
Wallaceburg’s Jamie Vanderveeken will be facing new challenges this season as the ex-Wallaceburg Lakers player will travel overseas to play for Hockey Club Fassa in Serie A, Italy’s top professional hockey league.
After finishing his OHL career, during which he played for 5 teams including the London Knights and Ottawa 67s, Vanderveeken also played 5 seasons professionally in the CHL and IHL.
Last season, as a member of the Rapid City Rush and Arizona Sundogs of the Central Hockey League, Vanderveeken picked up 7 goals and 15 assists, as well as 95 penalty minutes in 52 games.
Serie A, has welcomed several notable NHL players over the last two decades, both during and after the NHL lockout including Jaromir Jagr, Mathieu Dandenault, Matt Cullen, and Jari Kurri.
In Hockey Club Fassa’s official release on the signing of Vanderveeken and fellow Canadian Trevor Kell, the team stated Vanderveeken had the “fundamental characteristics to meet the demands of the coach.”
