Windsor Spitfires Sign Feasey, Assign Studnicka to Chatham
One of the Chatham Maroons top forwards from last season, Brennan Feasey, has signed with the OHL’s Windsor Spitfires.
“Brennan brings a good skill package to the table,” said Windsor Spitfires General Manager Warren Rychel, “With added strength and experience he can be a very productive player in this league.”
Last season, Feasey, who was a 6th round draft pick of the Spitfires in 2010, scored 13 goals and added 20 assists in 49 games as a Junior B rookie. Feasey also added 2 goals and 3 assists in 5 playoff games against the Strathroy Rockets.
Although the Chatham Maroons lost one of their most productive players from last season in Feasey, the Windsor Spitfires assigned 16-year-old prospect Sam Studnicka to Chatham. Studnicka, who captained the Sun County Panthers Minor Midget ‘AAA’ team last season, and Spitfires GM Warren Rychel believes Studnicka will be in the Windsor lineup sooner rather than later,
“Sam had a great camp and he outplayed guys who were drafted ahead of him,” said Rychel of the team’s 5th round draft pick from this spring’s OHL priority draft.. “Moving forward, Sam will be a part of our team and he will see games with the Spitfires this season.”
Studnicka tied for second on the Sun County Panthers in scoring last season with OHL 1st overall pick Aaron Ekblad who will suit up for the Barrie Colts this season, behind only Trevor Murphy, who was a third round selection of, and will play for the Peterborough Petes this season.
The Chatham Maroons kick off their season against the Lasalle Vipers Wednesday at 7pm.
