Chatham-Kent Cyclones Thanksgiving Weekend Results
The Chatham-Kent Cyclones Bantam team dropped two games on the weekend 3-1 to London Gold in London on Saturday night then 3-2 to London Green in Bothwell on Sunday afternoon.
Saturday: London Gold 3 – Chatham-Kent Cyclones 1
Shots 32 to 19 for London. Brendan Johnston in net for the Chatham-Kent Cyclones. Each of London’s goals in the game came on the powerplay, with Chatham-Kent’s lone goal also coming on the powerplay by Trent Fox, assisted by Drew Marlatt and James McEwan.
On Sunday, London Green defeated the Chatham-Kent Cyclones Major Bantams 3-2. Chatham-Kent outshot London 30-25 in the game, with Alex Carriere in net for the Cyclones. Drew Marlatt scored in the first period for Chatham-Kent on the powerplay, with the assist going to Trent Fox. Dede Cato scored the other Cyclones goal late in the third period unassisted.
The next action for the Bantam Cyclones will be in London next weekend in the London Green/Gold Tournament.
The Major Peewee Chatham-Kent Cyclones competed in the Tim Horton’s Hamilton International hockey tournament over the Thanksgiving weekend. They played four games and finished with a 1-3-0 record.
In game one versus the Markham Waxers, the Chatham-Kent Cyclones were narrowly edged 3-2. Chatham-Kent’s first goal was scored by Lucas Vanroboys, assisted by Nathan Nauta, while Noah Fox had the other Cyclones goal unassisted.
The Toronto Junior Canadians topped the Cyclones 3-1 in game two of the tournament. Chatham’s lone goal scored by Noah Caryn, assisted by Tyler D’Alessandro and Noah Fox.
Game 3 featured another close finish as Chatham-Kent fell 2-1 to the Oakville Raiders. Chatham-Kent’s goal was scored by Erik Scherer, assisted by Noah Fox and Noah Caryn.
In their final game of the tournament, Chatham-Kent finally got in the win column defeating the Nepean Raiders 3-2. The Cyclones first goal was scored by Michael Mawlam, assisted by Erik Scherer. Nathan Nauta, followed up that effort with an unassisted marker. The game winning goal was scored by Mathieu Hansen, also coming unassisted.
Goaltending was split between Ashton Moore and Matthew VanOirschot throughout the weekend.
