CK Hockey Heroes Racking Up Early Season Successes
London Knights forward Seth Griffith of Wallaceburg kept up his scoring touch during a three-game swing this past weekend.
On October 14, Seth scored two goals as the Knights beat the Erie Otters, 6-4 at home. The next night, he had another goal in a 5-1 win over the Guelph Storm. However, he was held to only an assist by the Sarnia Sting on October 16 as they beat the visiting Knights, 4-3.
Seth’s teammate, Dane Fox of Thamesville, had a goal and two assists in the Guelph game.
In the college ranks, Chatham’s Jared Balog is off to a great start as a senior forward for the Calvin College Knights in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Jared has nine points (four goals and five assists) in the team’s first five games, all Knights’ wins.
Chatham’s Hokey Langan scored her first goal of the season as the Ohio State Buckeyes beat St. Cloud University, 5-1, on October 14. The Buckeyes also won by the identical score on October 15.
Chatham’s Ally Strickland of the University of Windsor Lancers women’s team picked up an assist in a 5-4 loss to the University of Guelph on October 15.
In the pros, Dresden’s Wes Cunningham picked up his first goal of the ECHL as his Greenville Road Warriors dropped a 3-2 loss to the Reading Royals on October 15. The night before, Wes had an assist in a 6-1 loss to the Wheeling Nailers.
Fellow Dresden native, T.J.Brodie, had an assist as the Abbotsford Heat beat the Rockford IceHogs, 4-3, in their first American Hockey League regular season contest on October 14.
Chatham’s Ryan Jones scored his first goal of the NHL season on October 17 as his Edmonton Oilers beat Ryan’s old team, the Nashville Predators, 3-1.
