Former Maroons Star Scores First OHL Goal in Debut
It was a big blow to the Chatham Maroons earlier this season when Alexander Morgan left the Junior B club to join the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, but if early returns are any indication, the Greyhounds might have got a steal.
Morgan scored in his OHL debut Sunday as the Soo Greyhounds travelled to face the London Knights. Although the Greyhounds lost 4-1 to the top ranked Knights, Morgan’s debut goal was welcomed by friends and family, as Morgan originally hails only 20 minuts from London in nearby St. Thomas.
When Morgan left the Chatham Maroons earlier this season, he was leading the team in scoring with 4 goals in 4 games. Last season as a 16-year-old, Alex Morgan scored 22-goals.
Morgan was acquired by the Soo Greyhounds from the Saginaw Spirit in September, and although he has not seen game action until this weekend, Morgan has practiced and travelled with the team since his acquisition.
Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith and Thamesville’s Dane Fox were held scoreless in the win for the London Knights.
