McArthur Runs Away From Competition in Blenheim
If sometimes UCC Lancers runner Taylor McArthur feels like he’s running alone, it’s probably because he has such a large lead on his competition. McArthur continued his local cross country dominance Monday as he trotted to a convincing win at the Blenheim Bobcat Run held at Blenheim Golf Club.
The 5th year Ursuline College student from Wallaceburg, is the reigning Kent senior boys champion. Also dominating Monday was Blenheim’s Breanne Nicholas who won the senior girls event, a crown she also holds from last season.
Following McArthur in the Senior Boys division was a pair of Chatham Christian runners, Ryan McNamara and Kevin Grootenboer who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively. UCC’s Justin Verburg finished 6th in the division while Bobby Zenick and Evan Murphy of Wallaceburg were 7th and 8th.
In the Junior Girls division, Mel Atkinson was the top local finisher from Tilbury in 6th place, as a group of Sarnia runners swept the top spots. Laken Bowden of Tilbury was 8th while Ashley Dykema of Wallaceburg finished 9th.
Nathan Outridge of Wallaceburg was the top midget boy KCSSAA finisher in the race topping out in 2nd place, while Josh Kellier of CKSS was 3rd, Justin McNamara of Chatham Christian was 4th, Blenheim’s Tom Rideout was 5th, and Daniel Grootenboer of Chatham Christian finished 6th.
Katrina Deliberato of CKSS came in just behind Nicholas in the senior girls race finishing 3rd, while Holly Tofflemire (Tilbury), Cassandra Hooyer (Chatham Christian), and Olivia Flook (Blenheim) finished 5th, 6th, and 7th respectively.
Sarnia Northern took the overall team title winning 3 of 5 divisions, while UCC captured team titles in Senior Girls and Senior Boys.
