Minor Bantam Chatham-Kent Cyclones Knocked Out in London Tourny Semi-Finals

The Minor Bantam Chatham-Kent Cyclones would start the weekend with a tilt against the Soo Greyhounds and come away with a 4 – 3 win.  The first period was spent with either side feeling each other out and would end scoreless.  After finding their legs the Cylcones would open the scoring with a goal from Ross Krieger, assisted by Kyle Dawson and Nick Delyzer.  Two minutes later they would find the back of the Soo net again on a goal from Nick Delyzer, assisted by Kyle Dawson.  In the next two minutes of play the Cyclone defense would chip in with two more, scoring were Ben Nichols and Kyle Fife with Delyzer adding a helper.

The Soo would add one of there own before the period would end.  In the third the cyclones would see the Soo fight back and add two more, but they would hold on for the win.

Game two would be later that afternoon against the Allen Park Huskies where Nolan Hakr would post a shut out with a 2 -0 Cyclone Win.  Nick Delyzer would open the scoring in the first period on assist from Brady Pataki and Ross Krieger.  Brendan Harrogate would add the insurance goal in the third on a pass from Patrick Wright.

This would put the Chatham-Kent Cyclones undefeated going into Day 2 of the tournament where they would have an early morning start against the Halton Hurricanes who were also undefeated.  The Cyclones must have all got a good nights sleep as the battle of weather systems would end in a Cyclone 5 – 1 win.  The cyclones would jump out to a quick 1 -0 start with a goal from Blair Derynk and helpers from Dawson and Levi Tetreult.  Play would be back and forth until late in the second when Pataki would find the twine on a power play with Harrogate adding the helper.  With the Hurricanes dazed by the power play Delyzer would add another with less then a minute to play in the second from Dawson.  The cyclones continued to carry the play with Luke Van Rycheghem getting his first as a cyclone early in the third from Dawson.  The Hurricanes would get one back before Krieger would put the game away with the cyclones fifth goal from Pataki and Ben Nicholls.  Jospeh Raaymakers played a solid game in net holding the Hurricanes to a single goal.

Game 4 later that afternoon would see the cyclones face off against the only other undefeated team in the tournament – the South Central Coyotes.  The two teams would not disappoint as after two periods it was still scoreless.  Early in the third the Coyotes would get the first goal of the game on the power play and hold onto the lead for a 1-0 win.  The cyclones played a solid game as they were down 2 defenseman and everyone had to give it their all as they played there fourth game in two days.

With a 3 -1 record the Minor Bantams would find themselves in a wild card position and in the semi finals for Sunday morning.  The initial seeding would have the cyclones in a rematch against the Coyotes but the tournament officials would place them against division foes the London Jr Knights.  With the second early start in two days the Cyclones would again look to come prepared as Delyzer potted a nice goal to open the scoring unassisted on a break away.  The Cyclones would find themselves short handed often during the game and the Knights would capitalize with two power play goals.  As legs grew weary the Knights would score two more in the third to put them ahead for good and end the weekend for the Cyclones.

The Knights would move onto the finals where they would also be defeated by the South Central Coyotes 1 – 0.  The only two defeats of the weekend would come against both finalist.
