Mooretown Flags Lower the Dresden Kings
Hoping to continue their climb up the Great Lakes Junior C North Division standings, the Dresden Junior Kings took on the Mooretown Flags Friday night at home, losing to the Flags 5-2.
Dresden jumped out to an early 2-1 lead on two goals by leading scorer Brennan Rainey, but then fell flat. After a goaltender change, which saw Brandon Funk enter the net, the Kings started to show life, but it was too late as Mooretown was able to shut the door.
Dresden Kings head coach Marc Swayze had this to say about his team’s performance, “we came out a little flat, I wasn’t very happy with our first. In the second I thought we had a lot of jump and we had a lot of scoring opportunities in the, their goal played really well.”
“We kept battling hard, our special teams were ok. All in all, it was an ok effort, it wasn’t our best, but we kept working until the end.”
Dresden now faces the Essex 73s Wednesday at home.
