Pre-KCSSAA Tennis Tournament Report

This season’s KCSSAA tennis tournament will take place Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 12 and 13 at the Joe Carpenter tennis courts (Tecumseh school). Boys’ doubles and boys’ singles will be played on Oct. 12 while girls’ doubles, girls’ singles and mixed doubles will take place on Oct. 13.
Last season’s boys’singles results:

  1. Alexander  Goldoni (JMSS)
  2. Brandon Dube (UCC)
  3. Harley Kitamura (JMSS)
  4. Luc Hebert (UCC)

Goldoni and Kitamura return, Brandon Dube will be joined by his brother Josh  while Luc Hebert will move to boys’ doubles.
Last season’s girls’ singles results:

  1. Alaysha Pereira (JMSS)
  2. Laura Polowick (JMSS)
  3. Nicole Protopapas (CKSS)
  4. Michelle Truong (UCC)

Pereira has graduated. Polowick will play singles, Protopapas will play MXD .  Graciela Alaniz (CKSS) will move from girls’ doubles where she won Kent and SWOSSAA last season, to girls’ singles. Michelle Truong returns to play singles.
Last season’s boys’ doubles:

  1. Dylan McTavish and Michael Woods (JMSS)
  2. Brandon Joyes and Matt Ruttle (UCC)
  3. Josh Dube and Scott Pollard (UCC)

Woods has graduated.  McTavish will play with Brady McIntyre, Joyes and Ruttle return.  Luc Hebert will team with Cam Martin (UCC) while Ben Davies and Aiden Poole will represent CKSS.
Last season’s girls’ doubles:

  1. Grecia and Graciela Alaniz (CKSS)
  2. Liz Hook and Cassidy Fenton (JMSS)
  3. Anique Daley and Mackenzie Tiffin (JMSS)
  4. Jacqui Scaman and Taylor Tremblay (UCC)  

Grecia Alaniz has graduated while Graciela will play singles this year. Cassidy Fenton will team with Reanna Underwood (JMSS) this year.  Anique Daley will play singles while Jacqui Scaman will team with Rachael Malott. CKSS will be represented by grade nine students Kara Hueniken and Deanne Lo.
Last season’s mixed doubles:

  1. Brooks Shepley and Whitney Martin (JMSS)
  2. Clark Bradley and Reanna Underwood (JMSS)
  3. Matt Smith and Jasmine Shadd (CKSS)

    Shepley and Martin return. Underwood will move to girls’ doubles. Smith and Shadd return and tough opposition is expected from a new team Rick An and Nicole Protopapas (CKSS).
    The team championship was won by JMSS last season, their fourth in five years.
