SWOSSAA Tennis Results, CKSS Duo Headed to OFSAA

SWOSSAA TENNIS RESULTS, OCT. 18/2011 HELD IN CHATHAM

Due to rained out conditions, Rick An and Nicole Protopapas of CKSS were the only local pair to know they are headed to OFSAA tennis in the spring after winning the mixed doubles division at SWOSSAA.

Other top finishers on the day before the rains came were Cassidy Fenton and Reanna Underwood from JMSS who finished 4th in Girls doubles, and Laura Polowick who finished 4th in girls singles.

Open Boys’ Singles:
1. Chris Fletcher (Windsor Massey) 8-3 win over Mag
2. Adrian Mag (Tecumseh Vista) 8-0 win over Glaz
3. Patrick Glaz (Assumption) 8-4 win over Coleman
4. Michael Coleman (Sarnia St. Christopher) 9-1 win over Brian Mullins (Windsor St. Joseph)

Open Girls’ Singles:
1. Selena Celic (Tecumseh Vista) 8-5 win over Ioana Grant (Massey)
2. Ioana Grant (Massey) 8-3 win over Rileigh Jackson (Riverside)
3. Rileigh Jackson 8-5 win over Sarah Barry (Sarnia St. Christopher)
4. Sarah Barry

High School Boys’ Doubles:
1. Nick Jones and Adam Sparling (General Amherst) 8-6 win over Laird and Laird. Jones and Sparling are SWOSSAA champions.
Suspended play due to rain. Gabe Burlacu and Jakub Jedrzejczak (Windsor St. Joseph) lead 3-0 over Justin Fazio and Nick Sproviero (St. Christopher) with the Windsor team serving. The losing team will be fourth, the winning team will play Laird and Laird for second.

High School Boys’ Singles:
Suspended play due to rain. Mohamed Eltahir (Windsor Catholic Central) leads Brandon Dube (Ursuline College of Chatham) 6-5, 15-0 on serve. The winner is SWOSSAA champion. The loser plays Chris Fazio of St. Christopher who defeated Brandon Dube of UCC 8-1. Dube finishes fourth.
