Trio of Chatham-Kent Hockey Players Enjoying Solid Pro Seasons in Europe
Tyler Roeszler, who completed his NCAA career last season with the Cornell Big Red, was delayed in his start to the season after suffering a concussion, however is back on track scoring 3 goals and 4 assists for 7 points in his first 9 games of professional hockey with Vita Hasten.
In Italy, Schaafsma, a veteran of European hockey, has 2 goals and 9 assists for 11 points in 9 games for HC Gherdeina. Last season Schaafsma finished with 36 points in 30 games for Gherdeina. Schaafsma, a Blenheim native, also represented the Netherlands at the World Championships.
Also playing in Italy for HC Fassa, Wallaceburg’s Jamie Vanderveeken is experiencing a successful start to his European career with 2 goals and 6 assists in 8 games. Last season Vanderveeken played for the Arizona Sundogs of the CHL.
