WDSS Junior Boys Win LKCS Volleyball Invitational
The LKCS Cardinals held an invitational volleyball tournament in Dresden late last week. The Wallaceburg District Secondary School Junior Boys Volleyball team tasted success for the first time this season by winning the LKCS Invitational.
Wallaceburg finished first in pool play and cruised through the Semi Finals, defeating the UCC Lancers Midgets in two straight.
In the final, Wallaceburg got off to a slow start against the host Lambton-Kent Cardinals, but rallied to win 25-14 and 25-20.
Josh Berkvens and Garth Denys lead the offense while Shane Outridge was invaluable on defense.
In other high school sports, the Ridgetown Royals defeated the Lambton-Kent Cardinals 38-20 in Junior Girls Single A basketball. Merideth Goldhawk topped all scorers in the game, knocking down 22-points for Ridgetown in the win.
Ridgetown again defeated Lambton-Kent in the senior girls loop with Janelle Eus and Cynthia Hopkins scoring 10-points a piece. Paige Jahnston had 14-points for Dresden in the loss.
