Wheatley Sharks Outpower Blenheim Blades in Junior C Action
The Wheatley Sharks outpowered the Blenheim Blades Monday in Wheatley putting an end to Blenheim two game winning streak with a 6-2 win.
Thomas Innes opened the scoring for the Blenheim Blades on the powerplay before Wheatley’s Austin Fontaine answered back with the man advantage.
As the second period got underway, the Wheatley Sharks came out flying scoring three goals before Blenheim was able to strike again. Riley Babkirk got things going for the Sharks, followed by Chris Warkentin, and Sabastien Kanally. Trevor Sparks chipped back at Wheatley’s lead, assisted by Matt Speed who was recently returned to Blenheim from the Chatham Maroons, sending the game to the third with Wheatley leading 4-2.
The third period was all Wheatley with Kanally scoring his second of the game followed by a late game goal by Jesse Martin.
The win improves Wheatley’s record to 4-4-1, while Blenheim drops to 3-5-1.
