Blenheim Blast Swim to First Place Finishes in Leamington
The Blenheim Blast Swim Team travelled to the Sherk Centre in Leamington Sunday November 13 to compete in the second S.E.A.L. meet of the season. Participating teams were the Leamington Lasers, The Windsor-Essex Aquatic Swim Team, Killer Whales Swim Team (London ) and the Blenheim Blast.
7 year old William Reynolds swam to two second place finishes in the boys 7 and under 25 Back (48.21) and 25 Free (32.24). 7 year old Zoe Clark-Fraser swam to fourth place finishes in the girls 7 and under 25 Back (42.68) and 25 Free (42.69) and had a fifth place result in the 25 Breast (1:07.61). 8 year old Emma Pegg had four top ten finishes in the girls 8-9 year old age category with a fifth place in the 100 IM (1:52.90) , ninth place finish in the 25 Fly (24.49), and tenth place finishes in both the 25 Breast (28.14) and 25 Free (20.73) 10 year old Grace Hansen swam second place in the girls 10-11 50 Back (46.05) and had fourth place finishes in four other events : 100 IM (1:33.68), 50 Fly (43.94), 50 Breast (48.80) and 100 Free (1:26.81) . 11 year old Delainey Johnson swam to four top ten finishes at this meet, placing forth in the girls 10-11 50 Back (48.29), and fifth in the 10-11 girls 50 Fly (46.64) , 100 IM (1:37.59) and 100 Free (1:28.26). Jill Clendenning (11) had three top ten performances placing eighth in both the girls 10-11 50 Fly (48.89) and 100 Free (1:32.37) and was tenth in the 50 Back (50.14)
12 year old Rain Pfaff swam to first place finishes in both the girls 12-13 year old 100 IM (1:20.88) and 100 Back (1:20.16), and finished second in the 100 Free (1:13.33). Rain also placed third in the 100 Breast (1:33.89) and was seventh in the mixed open 200 IM (3:02.23). 13 year old Mackenzie Desbiens swam to five top ten finishes in the girls 12-13 year old age category, placing second in the 50 Fly (36.67) third in both the 100 IM (1.24.84) and 100 Free (1:13.63) , fifth in the 100 Back (1:28.09) and sixth in the 100 Breast (1:35.95) 13 year old Olivia Ermers had a tenth place finish in the girls 12-13 year old 100 Breast (1:47.18). 12 year old Brendan VanHerk swam to first place finishes in the boys 12 and 13 year old 100IM (1:17.22), 100Back (1:17.25) and 100 Breast (1:30.29) . Brendan competed up in the male 14 and older 100 Freestyle placing third with a time of 1:07.89, and finished fifth overall in the open mixed 200 IM.
14 year old Shania Van Herk placed first in the mixed 200 Freestyle ( 2:20.26) and the female 14 and over 100 IM (1:17.05). Shania also finished second in the mixed 200 IM (2:41.78) and the girls 14 and over 100 Breast (1:32.32) Catherine Thompson (14) won the 14 and over girls 100 Breast in a time of 1:29.17, and had three other top ten finishes at the meet placing third in the girls 14 and over 50Fly (39.32) , fifth in the 100 Free and seventh in the 100 back. Mackenzie Rajki (14) won the girls 14 and over 50 Fly (32.55) and 100 Free (1:11.41), and placed second in the 100 Back (1:21.43) . Mackenzie placed sixth in the open mixed 200 IM (2:59.83) and ninth in the girls 14 and over 100 Breast. Sophia MacLean (14) had two top ten finishes placing 4th in the girls 14 and over 100 Back (1:29.53) and seventh in the 100 Free (1:19.92) Nikki McIntyre (14) had one top ten finish placing tenth in the girls 14 and over 100 Free in a time of 1:23.77
River Pfaff (14) also had a great day in the pool, swimming to first place finishes in the boys 14 & over 100 Breast (1:24.79) AND 100 Free (1:05.83) and second place in the 100 IM (1:14.38) River placed third in mixed open 200 IM (2:44.43) and was fourth in the boys 14 & over 50 Fly ( 33.24) Michael Scott (14) swam to sixth place in the boys 14 & over 100 Back (1:47.25) and placed eighth in each of the 100 IM (1:36.98), 50 Fly (41.01), 100 Breast (1:45.20) and 100 Free (1:32.13)
15 year old Brandelyn Kelly swam to first place in the girls 14 and over 100M Back (1:21.41) and secured second place in the 50Fly (36.12) and third in the 100 IM (1:23.02). 15 year old Riley Johnson, finished second in the girls 14 & over 100 IM (1:20.29) and swam to a third place finish in the mixed open 200 Free (2.31.91). Johnson had one other top ten finish, placing ninth in the mixed open 200 IM .
Some of the team will travel to London for the Nothers Fall Invitational November 25-27. The next scheduled S.E.A.L. Meet for Blenheim will be hosted in Sarnia December 4.
