Blenheim Rebounds From Demotion to Advance to Semis
From first place to a one win season, it happened in a matter of minutes for the Blenheim Bobcats Junior Girls basketball team. Blenheim was forced to forfeit their first 9 regular season wins in the 10 game season after discovering they had been playing with an ineligable player; however, after defeating the Lambton-Kent Cardinals in a quarter final game, the Bobcats have clawed their way back into championship contention.
Blenheim beat the Cardinals 43-17 powered by Hailey Newham’s 13-points. Randi-Lyn Bellamy had 8-points for the Bobcats.
Blenheim now advances to play the Chatham Christian Flames, who because of Blenheim’s forfeited games, finished first overall, with a 9-1 record.
In the other quarter final, Tilbury slipped by Pain Court 24-22. Alana Lansue topped all scorers in the game with 8-points.
Tilbury will now play Ridgetown in next Tuesday’s semi final. Both games will happen at 5pm in Ridgetown and at Chatham Christian.
