Bobcats Open Single “A” Hoops Season With Two Wins
It was a good night for both the Junior Boys and Senior Boys Blenheim Bobcats basketball teams. Both teams opened their 2011-2012 season with wins over the Tilbury Titans.
In Junior action, Andrew Laayes powered the Bobcats to the win scoring a game high 17-points. Blenheim was able to hold off Tilbury with a final score of 46-33. Blenheim’s Craig Oakey also chipped in with 11-points. Josh Fewer was the leading scorer for Tilbury with 10-points.
Overtime was needed in the senior boys match up between the two schools, with Nathan Kelly scoring a game high 17-points for the Blenheim Bobcats as they defeated Tilbury 52-43. Ryan Brooke added 14-points for Blenheim, while Ben Weibe and Frankie Friesen had 16- and 14-points for the Tilbury Titans.
In other senior boys basketball action, the Lambton-Kent Cardinals downed the Ridgetown Royals 49-25. Two other games were also on the schedule Tuesday in Junior Boys basketball with Ridgetown defeating Lambton-Kent 49-35, and Chatham Christian defeating Pain Court 48-25.
