Chatham Skaters Honour McKay With Golden Performances
Members of the Chatham Figure Skating Club skated away with numerous medals at the John McKay Memorial Invitational Competition, held this past weekend, Nov. 26 & 27 in Tillsonburg. McKay was a Chatham Resident who is an honoured member of the Skate Canada Hall of Fame, and Chatham Sports Hall of Fame.
In the StarSkate Preliminary Ladies flights, Hannah Ross received a Gold Medal, while Jessica Rummery took home the Silver Medal during their individual flights. Ross also gained a second medal, as she received the Silver when she skated in StarSkate Introductory Interpretive.
During the StarSkate Pre-preliminary Ladies events, Brooke MacLeod took centre podium with her Gold Medal, while Amanda Couture and Olivia Hunter both received their Bronze Medals, all in their respective flights.
While at the StarSkate Pre-preliminary Men flight, Joshua Andari brought home the Bronze Medal.
Zachary Stallaert took home the Silver Medal as he skated in the Development Level 1 Men flight.
Elyse Gregory took top prize as she received the Gold Medal during WO Preliminary ‘A’ Ltd Ladies. During a separate flight of the same event, Mackenzie Faubert also landed on the podium with her Silver Medal, while Ashley Hudson placed 5th during her flight. Hudson also placed 7th as she skated in StarSkate Introductory Interpretive.
During the WO Pre-preliminary Ltd Ladies event, Emily Zimmer landed with the Gold Medal, while Gabrielle Doey placed 6th in their respective flights.
