Dresden Kings Trump Kingsville, Maroons Lose
After falling to the Essex 73s Wednesday, the Dresden Kings rebounded with a 6-4 win against the Kingsville Comets to keep Kingsville winless on the season.
Kingsville jumped out to an early 1-0 lead before Dresden bounced back with firts period goals from Brennan Rainey and Josh Beatty.
Beatty would score again to start a wide open second period that also saw Dresden Kings goals from Macks Holmes, and Cody McPhail. Mark Belanger, who started this season with the Chatham Maroons after playing a full season with the team last year, scored twice for Kingsville in the second period.
Entering the third period 5-4, Dresden’s Dylan Mertz put the game away with only four minutes remaining, beating the Comets 6-4.

The Chatham Maroons dropped a 4-3 game on the road to the St. Marys Lincolns. For the second time in a week, the Maroons got out to a 2-0 first period lead, only to lose 4-3, this time in a shootout. Marco Canzoneri opened the scoring for Chatham, followed by a goal from Michael Verboom to round out the first period. Eric Palazollo scored the other Chatham goal, while all three Maroons shooters were stopped in the shootout.
Down the highway, the Wheatley Sharks slipped by the Alvinston Flyers 2-1. Jesse Martin and Austin Fontaine scored for the Whealtey Sharks, while riegning defenseman of the year Kurtis Ouellette had two assists in the win.
