High School Championship Saturday in Wallaceburg

WDSS Senior Football Team

It’s not often one school hosts three championship games in a single day, but that’s the case this Saturday in Wallaceburg as the senior boys football, senior girls basketball, and junior girls basketball teams will all host important games.

The Senior girls basketball team advanced to the Kent final by defeating CKSS 55-18. Fifth year player Erin Sarapnickas lead the way for her team scoring 15 points, while Kayla Riley scored 13.

Wallaceburg will meet UCC in the final after the Lancers downed the JMSS Panthers 52-40 riding Leann Finley’s 17-point performance. The final will take place at 7:00pm Saturday in Wallaceburg.

In Junior girls action, Haley Sarapnickas scored 16-points on route to Wallaceburg defeating UCC 52-28. WDSS will face CKSS after the Golden Hawks defeated 39-35.

The Junior girls final will take place at 12 pm in Wallaceburg, the same time another big game will be taking place outside. After winning their first Kent senior football championship in over a decade, the Wallaceburg Tartans football team will be playing Sarnia St. Christopher’s at 1pm. The team however hopes to have the game pushed forward to 12pm to avoid conflict with the town’s annual Santa Claus Parade, so continue to follow CKSN for updates.
